Jeffrey Porter’s take on the coming-of-age, “finding oneself” genre is as colorful as it is irreverently witty. Jones Dillon (Elijah Wood) is a seventeen-year-old college freshman whose rigid and sheltered upbringing has taught him little about life and even less about love. Not surprisingly, Jones’ vivid imagination runs amok when he drops out of college (after one day) and moves into an apartment house occupied by the eccentric and volatile Jane (Franka Potente), aspiring actress and resident vixen Lisa (Mandy Moore) and gun-slinging, cowboy hat-wearing artist Brad (Aaron Pearl). With an enjoyably off-kilter shooting style and a far-reaching, perfectly tuned soundtrack, All I Want is unexpectedly touching, generous with its insights and simply lots of fun.
